BlaKid’s Mission to Promote Ga Dangbe Language And Culture Through Music”

BlaKid is making waves in the Ghanaian music scene with his distinctive blend of rap and singing, using his native Ga dialect while seamlessly incorporating English and Twi (Akan). He’s on a mission to promote Ga Dangbe language and culture through his music, challenging the industry’s focus on English and Twi as the primary languages for awarding songwriters. BlaKid believes that music transcends language barriers and that creativity, storytelling, and lyrical arrangement should be recognized across all languages.
In discussing his track “Fake Love,” BlaKid highlighted the creativity, story, and rhymes that could easily make him a contender for the best songwriter if the industry were more inclusive. He encourages listeners to embrace and learn from the diversity of languages and cultures in music, noting that even if we don’t understand a language, the rhythm and groove compel us to explore and appreciate it.
BlaKid is also calling on the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to expand their nominations to include songs in various languages, ensuring that every artist, regardless of their language, has the opportunity to be recognized for their artistry.
Above all, BlaKid promises to stay true to his roots, promoting his local style of rap and culture on a global stage. For him, this is the most authentic way to share his story with the world—and he’s ready to make his mark.
