BlaKid Among the Chosen Few: Shatta Wale’s Accra Invasion Project
In a significant moment for the Ghanaian music scene, BlaKid, one of Accra’s most promising rising stars, has been selected by Shatta Wale to be part of his much-anticipated Accra Invasion Project (AIP). This project aims to spotlight emerging talents from the Greater Accra Region, following the massive success of Shatta Wale’s previous venture, the Kumasi Invasion Project (KIP), which helped catapult Kumasi-based artists like Amerado, Kweku Flick, Ypee, Kofi Jamar, and King Paluta into the limelight.
The Birth of the Accra Invasion Project (AIP)
The idea for the Accra Invasion Project was sparked by Ridwan Aryee, a die-hard fan of Shatta Wale, who was captivated by BlaKid’s music video for his “Shatta Wale – Botoe (Cover).” Impressed by BlaKid’s talent and potential, Ridwan proposed that Shatta Wale should replicate the success of the Kumasi Invasion Project by creating a similar initiative for up-and-coming artists from Accra. Ridwan’s belief in Shatta Wale’s ability to turn everything he touches into gold was the driving force behind this suggestion, which did not go unnoticed.
Shatta Wale’s Response and Selection Process
Shatta Wale, ever the visionary, embraced Ridwan’s proposal, recognizing the immense talent pool in Accra that had yet to be fully tapped. Alongside the Shatta Movement team, Shatta Wale set out to handpick the finest emerging artists from the region, with BlaKid being one of the standout selections. Other artists who made the cut include Kinjunia, Shattonzy, Zico Ranking, Cratus, Jo Quaye, Sanaa and several others, all of whom are now gearing up to be part of what promises to be a game-changing project.
On August 21, 2024, the Shatta Movement team, including Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, convened with the selected artists for a meet-and-greet session. This gathering was more than just an introduction; it was the official kick-off for the Accra Invasion Project, setting the stage for what is expected to be a groundbreaking collaboration.
BlaKid’s Excitement and Gratitude
For BlaKid, being chosen for this project is not just an opportunity; it’s a dream come true. Expressing his excitement, BlaKid shared how honored and blessed he feels to be part of such a significant initiative. He thanked Shatta Wale for bringing this project to life and expressed his deep gratitude to everyone who has supported his musical journey thus far.
In his words, “Ghana and the world at large should watch out for this big music project. Expect the best from BlaKid, as I never disappoint my people.”
A New Chapter for Accra’s Music Scene
The Accra Invasion Project is more than just a collaboration; it’s a platform that will showcase the rich and diverse talent within the Greater Accra Region. Just as the Kumasi Invasion Project did for the Kumerican artists, AIP is set to shine a spotlight on the next generation of Ghanaian music stars, with BlaKid at the forefront.
With Shatta Wale’s proven track record of success and the undeniable talent of the selected artists, the Accra Invasion Project is poised to be a monumental moment in Ghanaian music history.
Stay tuned as BlaKid and his fellow artists from the AIP take the world by storm, bringing the unique sounds of Accra to the global stage.
